Flam Chen is known for their pyrotechnic installations and performances, mixing martial arts, ritual, dance, stilt-walking, silk aerials, Taiko, and theatre to create spectacles unlike anything seen before. Based in Tucson, they have performed across the country and internationally, including at Tsunami on the Square, Prescott, AZ, and Theatre de Rue, Quebec, Canada. No strangers to Arcosanti, they have performed on multiple occasions at the site. We welcome Flam Chen back for this year's Earthdance.
"…like Cirque du Soleil, if they had fire instead of money."
-Derek Powazek, Boing Boing, San Francisco
William Eaton has performed and recorded as a soloist, with Native American Flutist R. Carlos Nakai, percussionist Will Clipman, Tibetan flutist Nawang Khechog with the Nouveau West Chamber Orchestra, the Nebraska Chamber Orchestra, and others. His albums, collaborated on with other musicians, have been nominated for Grammy awards on two separate occasions. Noted for building his own instruments as combinations of a harp and acoustic guitar, William Eaton is familiar with Arcosanti, and we welcome him back for another performance at this year's Earthdance.
"…Eaton makes a… sound that's evocative and melodic."

Metrognome is an electronic music artist noted for not only creating unique, alternative electronica, but creating his music digitally and on-the-fly with his own touch screen interfaces. Integrating these interfaces with his Native Instruments Reaktor software setup, Metrognome's music is of a different digital kind. Having played at multiple shows across Arizona and having collaborated with Flam Chen at the New Years Eve celebration in Bisbee, Metrognome and Flam Chen unite once again for this year's Earthdance to deliver an integrated performance of pyrotechnics and electronic music.
The acid electro-tech super group returns, fresh from their ultra-secret base of operations in Motu One, French Polynesia with a brand new 12" vinyl of ridiculously massive sonic shenanigans. This mysterious duo, going under the names of SNAKE and FALCONATOR, first appeared at our offices with "instructional briefs". What at first seemed to be random gibberish turned out to be some kind of nonsensical manifesto containing photographs, video surveillance, extra-dimensional travel theories, plans for impossible machinery, a peanut butter and banana sandwich, and hours of electronic music. Our sources suggest Ploy will be resurfacing at this year's Earthdance. Tinfoil hats recommended.

Daniel Anderson - Red Lotus: Heart of the Earth, Heart of the Sun - about this artist
Daniel Anderson is an artist from the Baltimore/Washington DC area. His paintings are typically large, abstract canvases that explore themes of theology, philosophy, and expression. Inspirations include Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Richard Diebenkorn, Robert Motherwell, and other abstractionists of the Expressionist period. He has shown his paintings at various events in DC. For Earthdance, he is creating a large, abstract sculpture that will hang in the center of Arcosanti. Entitled "Red Lotus: Heart of the Earth, Heart of the Sun," this large installation is made from recycled papers and materials. The installation is designed to be an "organic presence in the center of Arcosanti, bridging the gaps between the molten core of the Earth, the fusion reactor at the center of the sun, and the most powerful engine yet seen in evolution—the human heart."
Jim Cavera - It's About Time - about this artist
Jim Cavera is an artist and sculptor. His large installation, entitled "It's About Time" is a subjective time clock designed to skew people's perception of time. A tall, silver structure with LED panels on its side, the time clock displays messages at different time intervals that describe what time it is—however, these messages are accurate only according to an alternative perspective. Such messages include "It is two hours to the east" or "It is tea time" or "It's four years ago at Alpha Centauri." People can input their own message about what time it is via a touchscreen interface.
Sondra Carr - The Abundance Tree - about this artist
Sondra Carr is an installation artist. Her installation, called an Abundance Tree, is a sculpture made of recycled tree branches and landscaping scraps. The tree is then seeded with gifts, notes, and objects on its branches. These gifts are free to take, and people are encouraged to leave their own gifts and mementos. Over the course of its existence, the Abundance Tree grows with varying objects with varying shades of meaning. Thus the Abundance Tree becomes a source and repository of goodwill, and encourages social interaction wherever it is.
