The Colly
Soleri Music Center in conjunction with the Arizona
Commission on the Arts is offering a one-week residency,
workshop and series of performances and informal lectures under the
direction of composer/ percussionist William
Hooker, pianist Mark Hennan, and choreographer Makiko
Oka from July 18 to July 24th.
Hooker along with fellow New York Knitting Factory performers, Mark Hennan
and Makiko Oka, will conduct daily workshops and informal performances/lectures
geared towards students interested in advancing their compositional and performance
skills and exploring integrative multimedia in jazz, rock, avant-garde and

art, music and the relationship of color to motion, a piece which "will
enable others to tune in with their disciplines in mind."

of musical experience from the United States, Europe, and Japan to Arcosanti
to "create a workshop for composition, dance, drums and piano, leading
to a performance in the end". The week's activities will include:
- Daily workshops
- Informal performance/lectures each
evening
- One session for area school children
- A culminating
concert featuring a new work created for the occassion
Fee: workshop includes room
and board $325
