Paradox Internship Director
Ron Anastasia
Ron Anastasia has been
involved with computers and cyberspace for over 20 years. He
studied nonlinear simulation modeling at the System Dynamics
group at MIT during the mid-70's, with a focus on global environmental
issues. In the early 80's he founded and directed the Boulder
Computer Resource Center (BCRC) and Computer Tutors, which together
trained several thousand people in personal computing skills.
In the mid-80's, Ron worked with two medical doctors to program "NutraBalance," a
medical expert system for health professionals which provided
nutritional diagnosis and supplement recommendations based on
50 different blood test results. When Apple introduced the Macintosh
computer in 1984, Ron founded Affinity Microsystems, a Mac software
development company that developed Tempo, a high-end scripting
program used by many graphics and multimedia professionals.
In the late-80's, Ron semi-retired
to Maui for 6 years on the royalties from his various computer
projects. He discovered the internet, became an early member
of the WELL computer conferencing system, and since then has
spent far too many hours in cyberspace. Ron now lives in Santa
Barbara, California, where he and his television director wife
Kim are working on combining their skills to explore new directions
in the emerging field of interactive, Web- based TV. You can
read about some of their adventures on their personal Web
site.
