The program offers opportunities to study
in the unique environment of the prototype Arcology under construction
in Arizona's high desert. The four-week Arcosanti workshop program
is required for internship candidacy and offers hands-on participation
in construction and other activities. This intern will work with
Tomiaki Tamura in design development and execution of various graphics
projects. The department's primary focus is the design and production
of promotional materials
.
The internship opportunities include assisting Arcosanti
staff in the following activities:
- Providing graphic design following the outline and standards
set forth by the graphics department.
- Coordinating development of contents for print and electronic
media.
- Producing layout for print and electronic publications.
- Producing presentation materials (display panels, signs
and electronic media)
- Participating in gathering information for defined research
projects.
- Working, if qualified, with Tomiaki Tamura and web designers
on web page design and maintenance.

The candidate qualifications and
requirement include:
- Must have graphic design background.
- Must have user level knowledge in graphic software and
hardware.
- Must have some knowledge of photography.
- Must have working knowledge of woodworking tools.
- HTML knowledge is desired, but not essential.
- Must successfully complete a five-week workshop program.
