"Perpetuation, the hedonistic pursuit of Becoming's endless pleasure, has probably caused life to be its own generator of lastingness. Is this parthenogenesis, bisexuality, estrus, Eros, love, or post-silicon passion? Eros, a blessing trying to avoid malediction, imbues each cell of the body-brain. What is Eros' aim? Perpetuity in disguise, plotting its greatest invention: the Love Project. Excruciating!"
—Paolo Soleri, Entry #22, Eros
"Sketching from live models was part of Torino's Liceo Artistico curriculum in the mid-1930s. The exercise was resumed a few times, mostly at the end of the second millennium, which sounds Biblical! One intent was the eventual possibility of raising some microscopic fund for the project. The sketches amount to very little besides Eros-feminine inflections."
—Paolo Soleri, Entry #115, Nudes

Eros/Nudes : Charcol on Paper : Paolo Soleri |
Quaderno 7: Eros/Nudes boasts simple, curvilinear nude drawings that Dr. Soleri creates with the help of different models. The drawings feature unique and distinctive states of womanhood, from pregnancy to the voluptuous abandon of a woman who appears to enjoy eating. Accompanying the drawings are Dr. Soleri's reflections on femininity and Eros. Eros, originally a Latin and Greek word for love, derives its name from Greek mythology. Per Greek tradition, Eros was the god of love and son of Aphrodite, goddess of love. In modern times, Eros refers to libido, the sexual drive of human beings.
Quaderno 7: Eros/Nudes is full of considerations on what Eros means to the modern world, with the nude pictures from Dr. Soleri's Nudes project accompanying the written content.
