Ecological Design of Waste Treatment Workshop
To bring these techniques to Arcosanti, the Cosanti
Foundation hosted a Custom
Workshop in Ecological Design based on the techniques
learned from Ocean Arks International.
The system design was based on Restorer
Systems. The main structure was built from ladders
lashed to 55 gallon drums for floatation.

Once the final
design details were completed, the system was
dissembled then reassembled on the Oxidation Pond.

went on a field trip and gathered life from local
ponds. |

Participants then wove baskets.

The
Machine was then seeded
with the gathered plants.
|

This Workshop was Arcosanti’s first test in how
to integrate Living Machines into our existing waste
treatment systems and local landscaping. Learning from
this workshop we are trying to develop and test easier
ways to integrate these techniques into the Arcosanti
water systems, landscaping and site aesthetics.
