La Loggia

La Loggia front elevation

La Loggia, four stories of spacious rooms flooded with natural light, overlooks the beautiful Agua Fria Valley. The roof of the stuccoed masonary structure is level with the existing swimming pool deck and the ground floor will be part of future greenhouses, the eventual source of solar energy for heating. Cross-ventilation betweeen generous balconies and corridors will cool the interiors

Large silt-cast panels cap the vaulted fourth floor ceilings while the lower level units feature a frieze consisting of silt cast modules made by students, visitors and guests.

La Loggia Watercolor

A significant experimental design element of Arcosanti features the large scale, south facing , sloping greenhouses connected to the compact town structure. Phase III of La Loggia includes the construction of the first one acre segment of these greenhouses. The natural movment of collected warm air up it's slopes will furnish passive solar heating to both the La Loggia rooms and the East Crescent Complex.
