Seven teams of Arizona's best and brightest 'Slam' Poets came to Arcosanti for the 4th Annual Regional Slam Poetry Championship. From Tucson, Tempe, Phoenix, Flagstaff, Sedona, Mesa, Prescott and Arcosanti, 32 poets "slammed it out" for bragging rights as the finest performers in the state. An additional feature, the "MAD Women Poets" from Prescott opened the event.

Grand Master Dan Seaman, for the fourth time, did a great job coordinating the event, announcing each poet, announcing each score and keeping an upbeat and lighthearted atmosphere.

Slam poetry is an audience-judged poetry presentation that bases its appeal and success to the high-energy performances of the competing poets. The competition was won by team Mesa, well deserved for outstanding presentation and content.
