Hands-on Classes:
Clay Pit Fire Weekend

May 11-12

Learn and participate in an ancient form of firing pottery that uses natural materials and requires no gas or electricity during this two-day program.

You choose a small pre-made (bisque) clay vessel to decorate with different colorants, as well as learn the process of burnishing surfaces on some leather hard clay. After filling the earth pit with various natural combustibles and the pots, we begin the firing process.

More

Typically this lasts a few hours, then the pit is covered and left overnight. In the evening, all participants can attend a potluck style dinner followed by a short presentation on the history of pit firing, particularly its significance in indigenous communities of the Southwest.

You may camp or stay in a guest room overnight, with a nature hike and then brunch in our café the next morning.

Take Home
You’ll be able to take home your decorated, burnished, and fired vessel with you.

Laark Productions Presents:
A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Arcosanti

November 10 & 11 · 5:30pm
November 12 · 3:00 pm

Two worlds converge on a midsummer’s night… All seems well in Athens where a royal wedding is about to take place: not so well in the surrounding forest, where the King and Queen of the fairies are feuding. But when a desperate elopement, a jealous pursuit, and a play rehearsal bring the mortals to the woodland realm, the fairies’ magic may prove too much for everyone.

Laark Productions and the Cosanti Foundation present A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare’s playful romp from the world of men through the forest of dreams and back again. November 10, 11, and 12, join us at the Arcosanti Amphitheater for a Laark Productions Performance of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th we will be offering an optional Greek Dinner at 5:30pm followed by the performance at 7:00pm.

Sunday the 12th we will be offering a matineé at 3:00pm

The performances will be held in our outdoor amphitheater. Please dress comfortably for the cooler weather and bring a cushion for seating if you would like.
