ABOUT THE COSANTI FOUNDATION

Founded in 1965 by Paolo and Colly Soleri , the Cosanti Foundation (TCF) is an Arizona-based nonprofit educational 501(c)(3) organization that operates two world-famous, open-to-the-public locations: Cosanti in Paradise Valley and Arcosanti near Mayer. The Cosanti Foundation also owns and operates the for-profit Cosanti Originals, where we make our world-famous bronze and ceramic wind bells and other artisan items which supports our ongoing efforts. Originally established to support Paolo Soleri’s noted architectural and urban planning concepts and research, the Foundation exists to explore the theory of arcology (architecture+ecology). TCF’s current mission is “to inspire a reimagined urbanism that builds resilient and equitable communities sustainably integrated with the natural world.”

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Arcosanti Guest Experiences Ambassador reports to the Guest Experiences Manager and is responsible for representing Arcosanti and the Cosanti Foundation to the public.  They accomplish this by maintaining the overnight accommodation spaces, assisting in the cafe, as well as orientating visiting groups and volunteers.  This position requires excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.  The work of the Ambassador could be summed up as welcoming, teaching, storytelling, serving, and guiding the broader community as they engage with Arcosanti.

Primary Duties
  • Monitor the upkeep of guest rooms, suites, Crafts III and ceramic bathroom, camping area and other short term rental spaces including exteriors.
  • Deep clean and turn over guest rooms and/or suites and ensure consistent standard of cleanliness and presentation of overnight accommodations.
  • Greet and orient the public, online and in person, as they seek to engage with our sites.
  • Monitor supply inventor and report low stock items to the manager.
  • Provide event support for contracted events.
  • Answer phone calls and emails.
  • Provide coverage for overnight and on-call phone when scheduled with the manager.
  • Additional duties may be assigned with overnight stays, the café, events or the gallery.
Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Work with others well and thrive being part of a team.
  • Must be flexible about serving in different roles and cleaning different spaces.
  • Outstanding organizational, time management, and improvisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work on weekends, occasional evenings and around holidays (not including on the following holidays when the site is closed: Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years day; or starting 1pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.)
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of customer service experience.
  • Hospitality, housekeeping, or maintenance experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: 
  • Due to the unique nature of the TCF built environment, ability to ascend/descend stairs and move safely over uneven terrain.
  • Ability to operate a computer, iPad, and standard office equipment (e.g. computer keyboard, phones, calculator, etc.).
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs comfortably.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing, over the phone, and through virtual telecommunications
